Can I name alternate beneficiaries in my will?

Question: Can I name alternate beneficiaries in my will?

Answer: I think it’s advisable to name alternate beneficiaries in your will. To the extent that you want the property passed to your heirs you will designate whether it’s your spouse or your children or any other family members if something happens to your family and it’s going to go to your parents or to your siblings. What’s important to know is if you don’t designate any successor beneficiaries, then it will pass under what I consider under the family tree. That the state has an arrangement and that may or may not be what you want.
