There are many examples of property that passes outside of probate which include transfer on death deeds for real estate, you may have joint tenancy with rights to survivorship with a deed in real estate, you may have a life insurance policy with a beneficiary designation, or a retirement plan with beneficiary designation. There are many types of assets that pass outside of probate.
