Should I consider a trust or some other type of special planning for my special needs child?

Question: Should I consider a trust or some other type of special planning for my special needs child?

Answer: If you have a special needs child you should do some special planning in order to provide for the financial security of that child during their lifetime. If you leave assets directly to that child then that child will be required to use those assets in the future for their medical care, so a lot of families were wanting to use special needs trusts and other types of planning tools in order for that child to qualify for governmental assistance without having to use the family assets.
