What is a health care proxy?

Question: What is a health care proxy?

Answer: A healthcare proxy in Ohio is called an Ohio healthcare power of attorney. In the Ohio healthcare power of attorney you will appoint a close friend or family member to make medical decisions for you in the event of your disability. There are also provisions in the Ohio health care power of attorney that allow you to designate your person with the power of attorney to make the final decisions and not your doctors in the event that you’re terminal or permanently unconscious. In that event you are authorized but not mandated to withdraw life support or withdraw food and water in the event that you are permanently unconscious or terminal in a terminal state.
