When is a guardianship necessary?

Question: When is a guardianship necessary?

Answer: Guardianship is necessary when you find that due to a health problem or other illness or physical injury or some other circumstance that you are unable to handle your personal financial affairs, your medical situation, handling your medical decisions with your doctors. In that event, then the probate court will oversee in a hearing the appointment of a guardian to act on your behalf and that person will keep working for you on your behalf until those disabilities have been removed and you are able to fully function and handle your financial or medical affairs in the future.
