Does all personal property and real property have to go through an estate when a person dies?

Question: Does all personal property and real property have to go through an estate when a person dies?

Answer: All personal property and real property typically would go through the estate, unless there has been some type of designation with the title of that property that provides that that property transfers on death to a surviving person and for example with the real estate the deed may have a transfer on death deed or it might be jointly owned with rights to survivorship. In personal property, typically might only be a car or a boat that you have a legal title that can provide that the title transfers on death to an individual.
