Can I control how money is left to my children?

Question: Can I control how money is left to my children?

Answer: Yes, you can control how much money is left to your kids in your will. It would typically require a testamentary trust which we would not recommend because if you have a testamentary trust, it requires the continuous review of the probate court until the money is distributed to your children. We do recommend that if you are trying to control the money that your children receive that you use a revocable living trust in order to identify who gets what and when and provide for the administration of that property until it is distributed to your children.
