Does a will increase probate expenses?

Question: Does a will increase probate expenses?

Answer: A will typically does not increase probate expenses. If you do not have a will your estate still needs to be administered by the probate court and in lieu of an executor the probate court would appoint an administrator to administer your estate. If you have property in your individual name it still needs to be administered through the probate court whether you have a will or not.
